Two Northumberland sisters are on a mission to make life’s toughest moments easier to talk about, and they’re using sweary candles, sassy socks, and feminist stationery to do it.

United Kingdom, 2nd Oct 2025 - This October, in support of Menopause Awareness Month, Natalie and Steph, co-founders of the Northumberland-based indie gift brand Laughing Sisters, are launching their new Mood-Lifting Menopause Gifts collection, featuring funny and thoughtful presents designed to spark joy, solidarity, and conversation.

“Menopause can be isolating,” says Natalie. “Our gifts give people a way to say ‘I see you’ without clichés or pity. Laughter makes facing a challenge like going through the menopause that bit easier.”

Where It All Started

The idea for Laughing Sisters was born after Steph was hospitalised with a rare autoimmune condition, MOG antibody disease, which forced her to close her personal training business. What started as a coping mechanism, texting jokes from a hospital bed, grew into a mission to create gifts that celebrate resilience, humour, and the strength of women.

Laughing Sisters now stock a wide range of products, including mood-lifting menopause candles (“For hot flushes & hotter comebacks”), empowering feminist socks (“Strong women raise each other up”), and sarcastic stationery (for work wives, colleagues, and badass friends).
