Notably, Mapa employed SKPL (Sistema ng Komunikasyon sa Pagpapalitan ng Larawan)—a communication aid system that reinforced verbal reasoning and self-expression among learners with cognitive challenges.

These tools were supported by a rigorous research process involving:

  • Diagnostic pre- and post-assessments,
  • Consultations with SPED teachers and external validators,
  • Customized rubrics evaluate performance outcomes in learners with difficulty applying knowledge.

Her findings affirm that instructional materials rooted in flexibility, accessibility, and cultural responsiveness are vital to bridging educational gaps. By empowering students with learning disabilities through multimedia engagement and UDL, Mapa’s work offers a replicable model for future-proof learning.

This research forms the backbone of her broader U.S.-based curriculum proposal, which includes:

  1. Inclusive Teaching Practices using co-teaching and RTI frameworks,
  2. Customized Learning Plans aligning with IEP mandates under IDEA,
  3. Assistive Technology Integration including screen readers, speech-to-text tools, and interactive platforms,
  4. Comprehensive Educator Training focused on practical, scalable inclusive pedagogy.

Mapa’s initiative begins with pilot implementations in underserved regions where educational disparities are most critical. Through strategic collaboration with local school districts, nonprofits, and state agencies, her vision is a nationwide rollout that addresses legal compliance and educational justice.
